- she has two witnesses to the assault, one who tried to separate them and another who heard it begin and was begged to call 911
- she has multiple witnesses in depp’s security team
- she called the police
- she filed for a restraining order, which was granted to her, meaning that a united states judge found her evidence convincing enough to believe that she was in danger
- she filed for divorce
and news reports are still acting as though there is no way that amber heard could be telling the truth

You know what recent TV Trope I hate? Shows/movies where the Morally Ambiguous White Protagonist has two love interests, one white and the other non-white.
And the white love interest is being portrayed as the Good Girl, the ideal, innocent and sweet, treated with gentleness and chivalry by the main character, someone the protagonist could be with if he stopped giving in to the darker parts of his nature.
Meanwhile the non-white love interest is even more morally unambiguous than the protagonist, if she isn’t an outright bad guy. She’s the one who ‘gets’ him, the one he can be his bastard self with because she can handle it, the Bad Girl who’s never treated with gentleness, the Mysterious Old Flame that’s always trying to get him to abandon his good intentions while having her own agenda.
I’m tired of Hollywood only casting non-white women as love interests who aren’t presented as the Happily Ever After.
so Johnny Depp has been exposed by his wife as an abuser & she has a restraining order against him. I’m gonna say this once and once only, people: I’m straight out of patience for abuse apologists who are already coming out of the woodwork defending him. what is wrong with you? you’re halfway up his ass because he was once cute or something, meanwhile you’ve sent a message to abusers everywhere once again that it’s ok for them to remain powerful, idolized, loved influences in the spotlight. you’ve sent a message to abuse survivors everywhere that they are dishonest, untrustworthy fakes who deserve no justice.
seriously, stop worshiping the ground these men walk on, many of them are trash long before they’re called on abuse but their fanbase is willing to stay silent the whole time. Depp has redfaced and appropriated indigenous regalia and imagery and played an indigenous character as well as defended Roman Polanski, a convicted child rapist. you should not have supported him through that, and you should not support him now, when his wife has come forward.
do not hesitate to denounce Johnny Depp. do not hesitate to denounce every other powerful man who is exposed as an abuser. do not mourn the decline of their careers. do not feel you have to revere them or continue to uphold them as icons. do not continue to support them having a platform of influence. stand with abuse survivors.
